What does it take to keep farming strong in a time of climate extremes? In the Pannonian basin, where fields stretch across Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Slovakia, and Czechia, farmers are facing tougher seasons and harder choices.
But change is also an opportunity. Across the region, people are testing new approaches, sharing ideas, and finding ways to adapt. ClimaPannonia is here to support that change and this blog is here to tell those stories.
Why This Blog?
ClimaPannonia is a European project focused on building climate resilience in agriculture, especially in the unique lowland landscape of the Pannonian Biogeographical Area. Over the next four years, we’ll be working with farmers, researchers, advisors, policy makers and local communities to test practical solutions like: agroforestry, organic production, smart cattle systems, and water-wise farming.
This blog will be our space to share what’s happening on the ground:
- What are the biggest challenges farmers are facing today?
- What new practices are they trying and what are they learning?
- How can these solutions be scaled across regions, countries, and beyond?
We’ll highlight voices from the field, behind-the-scenes updates from our partners, and
simple explanations of how science meets practice.
