This demonstration site focuses on exploring practical, scalable solutions to address heat stress, feed shortages, and health challenges in dairy and beef herds.

 

The site simulates the conditions faced by local small-scale farms and aims to safeguard livestock production and rural livelihoods by showcasing resilient technologies and sustainable practices.

What is being tested on-site?

Practical and innovative strategies in cattle production with a focus on improving resilience in feeding, housing and manure management systems will be tested by:

  • introducing alternative feeding systems
  • applying mycotoxin mitigation strategies
  • establishing black soldier fly – based system
  • employing monitoring sensors

Timeframe: Throughout the duration of the project (from 2025 to 2028)
